about

Modulo Primus , is the first movement of a larger future work. I began composing it during my freshman year at Boston University (Spring 2016) under the supervision of Prof. John H. Wallace but only recently completed it . The piece is my first experimentation with atonal minimalist process music. Inspired by the works of Arvo Pärt and Nils Frahm, Modulo Primus’ repetitive homorhythmic melodic line is derived from the prime number series and is organized into a slow progressive expansion, beginning at the piano’s center and ending at its periphery. With every repetition, the line’s inversion and register is slightly altered to create a sense of familiarity yet divergence at the same time.
